FAQs
What is a float trip?
When you take a float trip, you are on a self-bailing raft equipped with a customized fishing frame. The frame
has two elevated swivel seats for guests and one oar-equipped seat in the middle for the guide. A raft is
required to navigate shallow areas and rapids.
Is this like whitewater rafting?
Yes and no. You will be on a raft similar to those used for whitewater rafting, but it will have a fishing frame
on it. You will travel areas of the river known for superb rafting, but our guides, who thoroughly know the river
at all water levels, will navigate you around the rapids, rather than through the rapids. After all, none of us
want to lose any gear.
Will I get wet?
Since it is a self-bailing raft, you're feet will get wet, so you should dress your feet according to the weather. If
it's cold out you will want some waterproof footwear. If it's hot out, sandals are the way to go. As for the rest of
you getting wet, it just depends on which section of the river you are on and current water levels. Anytime you
are near rapids, there is a chance you will get splashed. Again depending on the weather, you will want to
dress accordingly. If you have rain gear, bring it, just in case. Our guides have dry bags that we can store any
extra clothing you bring or shed throughout the day.
Do I need to bring my own gear?
Preferably yes, but we can provide you with gear at no additional cost. Our guides have top of line gear and
everything you need to have a wonderful fishing experience. Don't let your concerns over gear stop you from
an experience of a lifetime.
Why should I choose your company?
There are several reasons you should choose our company. First, we are a small company which means we
have the flexibility to customize your trip to meet your wants and needs. It also means we can keep our costs,
and therefore our prices, low. Additionally our guides were born and raised in West Virginia. They have grown
up fishing these waters, giving them superior knowledge and skill. Also our guides are current in CPR, First-
Aid, Swift Water Rescue, and DNR certifications. Which basically adds up to better fishing at cheaper prices.
